Our Ensembles
Tulane University Marching Band
The Tulane University Marching Band, known as the TUMB, is Tulane’s flagship music ensemble. Performing at Green Wave football games and major New Orleans Mardi Gras parades, the TUMB brings high-energy music and spirit to over a million people annually, embodying the vibrant culture of New Orleans.
Soundwave Pep Band
Soundwave Pep Band is the spirited ensemble that helps energize Green Wave volleyball and basketball games through performance at home events and by traveling to major tournaments. Soundwave rallies school spirit, entertains fans, and proudly represents Tulane at athletic events and special occasions throughout the year. 
Green Wave Brass Band
The Green Wave Brass Band (GWBB) is an ensemble that studies, rehearses, and performs New Orleans Traditional Jazz and Modern Brass Band. The GWBB dives into the musical traditions of the city by working and performing side-by-side with professional New Orleans musicians and culture bearers.
Tulane Concert Band
The Tulane University Concert Band is a spring semester ensemble open to all students interested in performing a diverse repertoire from classical to contemporary works. The band presents concerts on campus and at major New Orleans venues, enriching the university’s vibrant musical community.
Shockwave Dance Team
The Shockwave Dance Team is the official dance team of Tulane University, performing at all Green Wave football games and many basketball games. Known for their elite talent and spirit, Shockwave is featured in every Tulane University Marching Band halftime show and leads performances at Mardi Gras parades.
Our History
With roots stretching back to 1920, the Tulane University Marching Band is a proud tradition at the heart of Tulane University and New Orleans. From its early days as a military band to its modern revival after Hurricane Katrina, the TUMB embodies the spirit and resilience of both Tulane and New Orleans.
